It’s no surprise that postal systems around the world are being used less and less. This is, of course, also true for the United States. This article states:

“Just 10 years ago, the postal service delivered nearly 52 billion pieces of first-class stamped mail. In a decade, it dropped by 50%. And it’s expected to get worse.

This year, the postal service is expected to lose $15-billion and if nothing changes, that number will grow to $21 billion by 2016.”

Hmm… I know people have been saying for some years now that “print is dead” but it would really drive this point home for me if Canada Post started to be operated by some independent entity. It’s a little bizarre to think about but could actually happen sometime in the not-too-distant future.
