Anyone over the age of 40 will remember receiving letters of recommendation. These were the coveted letters that we used to staple behind our resumés before we walked around town dropping them off to prospective new employers. The file folder here in my office that contains these letters also contains a bunch of old resumés and cover letters that date back to the late 80s.  Not sure why I have kept this stuff. It’s not like I sit by the fire while wistfully reminiscing about the days when the minimum wage hovered just over $7 an hour.
