The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem

It’s a destination for devout Jews and a site for prayer and pilgrimage. There is a lengthy tradition of visitors writing their prayers and wishes onto slips of paper and placing them in the cracks of the wall with the hopes that their prayers will be answered.

It is estimated that more than one million notes are placed in the cracks of the wall each year.
